Infant Trip to Farm to see the Lambs.

In March Ewan's parents kindly invited us up to their farm to see the newborn lambs.

When we first arrived we sat on straw bales in a shed.

The children learnt about what we get from the sheep and a smelly cheese was passed round!

We also learnt about what the sheep eat and some haylage was passed round for the children to smell and feel.

We then split into 2 groups to look round the farm. First we saw the ewes that were still waiting to have their lambs.

Then we saw some lambs that were several days old.

These lambs had been born just before lunch and were still waiting to be penned up.

This was the favourite lamb. He was just 30 minutes old!

The children stroked the lambs.

Some lucky children also got to hold the lambs.

The children were very keen to see the 2 sheep dogs that are on the farm.

After very thoroughly washing their hands the children had a drink and a homemade cake.

At the end of the afternoon everyone had the chance to stroke their 21 year old shire horse.
